**Fraud and Inefficiency Plague Minnesota’s Welfare System Amid Growing Crime Concerns**

In what is shaping up to be a deeply troubling trend for Minnesota, federal prosecutors have secured guilty pleas from two Somali brothers involved in a $4 million housing scam.

Anwar Adow and Asad Ahmed Adow admitted to defrauding taxpayer-funded housing subsidies intended to assist the most vulnerable members of society.

The brothers, operating sham companies, concocted false claims and fabricated housing transactions solely to enrich themselves.

As Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson noted, they exploited a program designed to help the needy, showcasing a disturbing pattern of welfare fraud emanating from Minnesota’s Somali community.

This latest scandal raises flags amidst numerous investigations into similar cases, particularly the Feeding Our Future scandal, which has seen over 70 Somali migrants accused of misappropriating a staggering $250 million meant for child nutrition.

As the grim reality unfolds, one can’t help but question the efficacy of Minnesota’s welfare programs, especially under the stewardship of Democratic leaders.

The Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) program was initially projected to cost a manageable $2.6 million annually, but as of mid-2025, payouts have skyrocketed to a staggering $61 million.

With fraud probes intensifying, the HSS program was recently shelved—an indictment of a system seemingly ripe for exploitation.

Welfare funds that should be aiding families in need are turning into convenient cash grabs for fraudsters.

Moreover, disturbing reports suggest that much of this stolen money is being funneled to overseas networks linked to terrorism, including Al-Shabaab.

In a recent post, President Trump unequivocally described Minnesota as a "hub of fraudulent money laundering activity" and called for immediate action against the influx of individuals associated with these schemes.

He remarked that “Somali gangs are terrorizing the people of that great State,” placing direct accountability on the current administration.

This sentiment was echoed by Republican lawmakers who spotlighted the corruption fostered by a lax welfare system.

Rep. Brad Finstad and House Speaker Mike Johnson have both voiced their outrage, stressing that these scams reflect the failures of a Democratic-led government too weak to safeguard taxpayer funds.

It has become increasingly clear that Minnesota’s generous welfare programs, combined with ethnic loyalties, may have created a perfect storm for fraud.

With key political figures like Governor Tim Walz at the helm, the public is left wondering just how many more scandals will come to light before accountability is finally imposed.

As deportations ramp up, citizens are left contemplating the efficacy of a system that appears to prioritize outside interests over the needs of its own residents.

How much longer must the hardworking taxpayers of Minnesota pay the price for a system that has clearly lost its way?
