**Hijacked Heritage: The 250th Anniversary of America Under Attack**

As we approach the 250th anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence, a disturbing trend is emerging.

This once-in-a-generation celebration is being threatened by organizations that seem intent on shaming our nation rather than honoring its incredible history.

Specifically, the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, launched to coordinate festivities for America 250, is being heavily influenced by a left-leaning nonprofit—the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH).

The AASLH is pushing a radical agenda with their thematic guide that renounces the founding principles of our country.

Instead of celebrating American independence, we are being directed toward a narrative fixated on the “faults, past and present,” framing discussions around America in a continually negative light.

Take, for instance, the AASLH's theme of “Unfinished Revolutions,” which sidesteps the significance of the American Revolution in favor of discussing how it failed to achieve equity for all. This sets a troubling precedent, where our founding ideals are overshadowed by modern grievances.

Rather than uplifting stories of courage and national pride, this guide encourages educators and historians to dwell on grievances and exclusions, diverting attention from what has made America exceptional.

The “We the People” theme attempts to dissect who should be considered an "American" and highlights alleged injustices within our democracy.

Such dialogue risks eroding our shared identity, replacing pride with division, and weakening the very fabric of our nation.

Our founding was a monumental achievement—a successful break from tyranny that forged a new nation based on freedom and individual rights.

Yet, these revisions by the AASLH reflect a broader trend aimed at undermining patriotism and celebrating a wide-ranging agenda of “inclusivity” at the cost of our historical narrative.

In previous years, many states took bold steps to curb the teaching of critical race theory and other divisive doctrines in schools.

This backlash was a commendable pushback against attempts to rewrite our nation's history.

However, the AASLH openly admits to seeking ways to work around these restrictions, endangering the integrity of upcoming celebrations and our historical education.

As we stand on the brink of a significant milestone in our nation's history, it is paramount that we reclaim the narrative.

Rather than succumb to narratives that encourage self-loathing, we must celebrate our achievements, confront our history authentically, and pass on a legacy of patriotism to future generations.

America 250 should not be a backdrop for turmoil but an opportunity for unity and national pride, shining a light on our journey from revolution to freedom.

Patriotism should never go out of style, and as Americans, we must ensure that the true spirit of our founding is honored as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our great nation.
