Breaking news: WNBA star Caitlin Clark faces relentless questioning about her name being "weaponized" in culture wars.

During a recent media availability, Caitlin Clark was asked about her name allegedly being used to spread hateful beliefs. Two reporters from outlet the Athletic asked the WNBA star about the "culture war" and whether she's upset by her name allegedly being used to promote racism.

Reporter Jim Trotter decided to ask the player about her name being "weaponized in non-sports topics." Clark responded by saying that she doesn't put too much thought and time into thinking about things like that, and to be honest, she doesn't see a lot of it. She added that basketball is her job and that she's just here to play basketball and have fun.

Trotter, relentlessly, then asked if she's "bothered" by her name being used in "culture wars." The rookie simply responded by saying "no," because she doesn't pay attention to it.

Clark's answer seemingly did not include enough activism for Connecticut Sun player DiJonai Carrington, who criticized Clark for not addressing "misogyny" and "xenophobia," for example. Carrington wrote on X that "Dawg. How one can not be bothered by their name being used to justify racism, bigotry, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia & the intersectionalities of them all is nuts. We all see the sh*t. We all have a platform. We all have a voice & they all hold weight. Silence is a luxury."

About an hour after Carrington's post, reporter James Boyd then asked Clark about her name being "weaponized for racism/misogyny," referencing the bothered WNBA player in his post. Clark responded by saying that it's disappointing and not acceptable.

Despite receiving more attention than ever before, the WNBA is still projected to lose around $50 million this season, with a reported $12 million dollars spent on charter flights for the teams. Some players have complained that their charters aren't big enough or that they weren't as luxurious as Clark's team's flights.

It's clear that the left-leaning media is trying to drag Clark into their culture wars, but she's not taking the bait. She's focused on playing basketball and having fun, and that's exactly what she should be doing. The WNBA is a professional sports league, not a political battleground. Let's hope that the media respects that and stops trying to weaponize Clark's name for their own agenda.
