Here's the latest on the top news of the day:

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the government's ability to deport illegal immigrants who fail to appear for their immigration hearings.

In a 5-4 decision, the court ruled that technical flaws in paperwork cannot stop a perfectly good deportation order.

The case, Campos-Chaves vs. Garland, involved an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who entered the U.S. in 2005 and was given a notice to appear for a deportation hearing.

The immigrant never appeared for the hearing, and the Immigration Judge ordered him removed in absentia.

Thirteen years later, the immigrant filed a motion to reopen his removal proceedings on the theory that he never received a proper notice to appear.

The Supreme Court disagreed, ruling that the government is not free of its obligation to provide a notice to appear, but that the document has an important place within the statutory scheme.

This decision is a welcome victory for sanity and a step in the right direction for enforcing our immigration laws.

In other news, former White House medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci has released a new book in which he claims that former President Donald Trump screamed F-bombs at him before saying he loved him.

The book, titled "Expect the Unexpected: Ten Lessons on Truth, Service, and the Way Forward," is set to be released on November 1st.

The CDC has issued a warning about an outbreak of salmonella poisoning connected to a species of lizard often used as a pet, known as bearded dragons.

The outbreak has affected nine states, including California, New York, and Texas.

The CDC warns that people can get sick from salmonella by touching the lizard or anything in its environment and then touching their mouth or food and swallowing salmonella germs.

People handling bearded dragons or touching their habitats should wash their hands with soap and water afterward, and avoid kissing or cuddling with the lizard.

Bearded dragons are commonly sold at pet stores across the United States, including Petco and PetSmart.

The CDC advises that bearded dragons are not recommended for families with children younger than five years old, adults 65 years of age and older, or people with weakened immune systems.

Salmonella can sometimes enter the bloodstream, causing more significant illnesses such as endocarditis, arthritis, and arterial infections. In rare cases, the bacterial infections can be fatal.

Symptoms of the bacterial infection tend to start between six hours and six days after a person consumes the bacteria. Most people recover without treatment in four to seven days.

Antibiotics are often used to treat people with severe salmonella infections, while patients with diarrhea are advised to drink more fluids.
