Biden's Homeowner Plan: Pandering Politics or Purposeful Policy?

Here's the latest on the Biden administration's policies and their impact on American families. Vice President Kamala Harris has proposed a plan to give first-time homeowners $25,000 for a down payment plus $400 a month towards mortgage payments. However, this proposal is not without its flaws.

The plan is only available to those who are the first generation in their family to buy a home, and even then, the maximum home price they'd be able to afford is far below the national average. This raises questions about whether the policy actually promotes equality or favors one group over another.

Moreover, the proposal seems to be a blatant attempt to pander to Black Americans, whose support the Biden-Harris administration needs to secure if it is to earn another four years in the White House. It is concerning that the administration is resorting to such tactics instead of focusing on purposeful economic actions.

Meanwhile, high inflation is making the cost of raising a child in the United States prohibitively expensive. According to online lending marketplace LendingTree, the cost of child care in the U.S. has surged nearly 20 percent between 2016 and 2021. The typical family is now spending about $237,482 over 18 years to raise a child, not including certain costs such as college tuition fees.

The increase in what families have to spend to raise children comes amid rising inflation expectations. Inflation expectations for the next five years have surged back to their highest levels, raising questions regarding the ability of the Federal Reserve and the administration of President Joe Biden to tame consumer prices.

Furthermore, the costs associated with raising a child in America are not evenly distributed, and five states in particular stood out as the most expensive places in the U.S. to raise a child. They are, in order of cost, New York, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, and Massachusetts – all states fully controlled by the Democratic Party.

In contrast, it is notably far cheaper to raise children in most of the American South, with the five cheapest states to raise a child in being Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi.

The Biden administration's policies are not only hurting American families financially but also losing support from Gen Z influencers who supported Biden in 2020. These influencers are turning against him due to his inability to solve inflation and immigration crises.

Former President Donald Trump, on the other hand, has been warning of a "depression" if Biden wins a second term and has plans to deal with the inflation crisis. Trump's policies, such as tax cuts and deregulation, have been proven to stimulate economic growth and create jobs.

In conclusion, the Biden administration's policies are hurting American families financially, and their attempts to pander to certain demographics are concerning. Meanwhile, Trump's policies have been proven to stimulate economic growth and create jobs. It is time for the Biden administration to focus on purposeful economic actions and address the inflation crisis.
