Here's the latest on the conservative front: Governor Glenn Youngkin of Virginia is taking action to ensure the integrity of the state's voter rolls. In an executive order issued on Friday, Youngkin directed state agencies to establish data-sharing protocols to keep the commonwealth's voter rolls updated and accurate. This move comes as Virginia prepares to launch a new statewide voter list maintenance program next year.

The order requires the Virginia State Police and respective Departments of Elections, Health, and Motor Vehicles to update data sharing agreements within 90 days of the order's effective date. These agreements will be reviewed once every year, according to the directive. The order also instructs various state departments to develop a multi-agency "data review work group" to analyze and issue guidance on the accuracy and security of data given to and used by the Department of Elections for maintaining the state's Voter Election Registration Information System.

This effort is aimed at enhancing the accuracy of Virginia's voter data before the launch of the new statewide voter list maintenance program next year. The development of the new system comes amid the commonwealth's departure from the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), a widely used voter-roll management organization founded by Democrat activist David Becker. ERIC has been criticized for inflating voter rolls by requiring member states to contact eligible but unregistered residents to register to vote.

Meanwhile, in Idaho, farmers are facing a water shutoff order that affects half a million acres of farmland and about 6,400 people who use the water. The water shutoff order is a result of a battle of wills between the Idaho Department of Water Resources and the groundwater districts in eastern Idaho. The state's waterways are owned by the State as a public trust resource, and a water right is the right to divert the state's public waters and put them to beneficial use. However, there isn't enough water to go around, and senior water users say they want the junior water users (farmers) cut off because they haven't stuck with the plan.

Finally, Biden's allies are scratching their heads as to why Americans won't stop complaining about the cost of food. Despite the administration's claims of economic success, Americans are still feeling the pinch of high prices for groceries, gas, and housing. The administration is reportedly struggling to change the perceptions of a "stubborn electorate" that is "living through an upswing" but "simply refusing to believe it."

In conclusion, Governor Youngkin's executive order is a step in the right direction towards ensuring the integrity of Virginia's voter rolls. Meanwhile, Idaho farmers are facing a water shutoff order that threatens their livelihoods, and Biden's allies are struggling to understand why Americans are still concerned about the cost of food. As the 2024 election approaches, these issues will undoubtedly be at the forefront of the political conversation.
