Man arrested after driving minivan through Alabama Christmas parade

One person was arrested after a minivan drove into a Christmas parade in Hayden, Alabama, Tuesday night. The scary moment was caught on camera. Watch the video above.

Hayden Police Chief James Chapman said no one was injured and the driver of the minivan was arrested shortly after the incident. The driver, who has been identified as Tony Nix of Trafford, Ala., is charged with reckless endangerment and attempting to elude. He was booked into the Blount County Jail Tuesday night and released on bond Wednesday at 10:40 a.m., jail records show.

According to court records, Nix was "flipping the bird" as he drove past barricades and uniformed police officers. A complaint alleges Nix refused to stop for officers and "almost struck law enforcement."

Chapman said anyone who wants to make a police report for reckless endangerment should contact the Hayden Police Department.

"To all of those that were in attendance at the Christmas parade tonight, if there is anyone who would like to make a police report for reckless endangerment needs to contact Hayden PD and we will get this process started," Chapman said. "I am thankful that no one was injured by this person. The Hayden Police Department has arrested this subject and initiated criminal and traffic charges. Thank you to all that assisted."

The parade was held on Highway 160 and was closed for the duration of the event.... (Read more)
