The Supreme Court has reportedly blocked a lower court decision effecting Texas redistricting.
Axios reported: Last night, the Supreme Court voted 5-4 along partisan lines, blocking a lower court's August ruling that the drawing of two congressional districts in Texas was unconstitutional and discriminatory toward Hispanic voters. As is usual in these kinds of cases, there was no explanation for the decision, according to Politico.
Why it matters: Texas does not have to start redistricting, which means current maps are likely to be used in 2018 elections.
