House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan is ramping up pressure on former Special Counsel Jack Smith regarding the controversial investigations into President Trump and the events surrounding January 6.

Jordan announced plans to issue a subpoena compelling Smith to testify if he does not comply voluntarily.

This move comes after troubling revelations that Smith’s team invoked the Fifth Amendment during recent interviews, raising serious questions about their motives and the integrity of the investigation.

"We want to talk to him," Jordan stated during a recent interview. "We will use everything we have to get this guy, and we want to get all this information and talk to him in a deposition format."

Jordan also revealed his intention to discuss potential reforms to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), particularly in light of what many view as overreach by the Biden administration's FBI.

The FBI's investigation, which targeted Trump and those close to him, has been criticized by many lawmakers for relying on insufficient evidence.

Smith previously indicated a desire to publicly set the record straight regarding his investigations.

However, Jordan’s assertion that subpoenas were issued against individuals such as White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino without strong justification raises concerns about the legality and ethics of such actions.

"Why do you need his bank records? What is going on?" Jordan asked, pressing for transparency and accountability.

He emphasized the importance of protecting American liberties, stating, "The rights you have under the Bill of Rights, the rights you have under the First Amendment, Fourth Amendment, Second Amendment, all those key liberties we have in this greatest country ever—That's supposed to be our focus."

As calls for accountability and reform intensify, it remains crucial for Congress to uphold the principles of justice and transparency, ensuring that the rights of citizens are not compromised in political battles.
