**Cuba’s Communism: A Call to Uphold Religious Freedom and Reject State-Controlled Lies**

In a shocking display of hypocrisy, Cuba’s President Miguel Díaz-Canel recently claimed that his communist regime respects and perfects religious freedom, even as it continues to impose severe restrictions on Catholic practices and dissenting voices.

During a meeting with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, the Vatican’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations, Díaz-Canel extended an invitation for Pope Leo XIV to visit Cuba, suggesting that the conditions for religious practice in the nation have significantly improved.

However, history tells a different story.

Since coming to power in 1959, the Castro regime has showcased a notorious track record of religious persecution and has stifled the Church’s role in public life. The dictator Fidel Castro once declared Cuba an atheist state, a declaration that wasn’t reversed until 1992, while the regime’s oppressive tactics have only escalated.

In 2024, for instance, the government banned Catholic Holy Week processions across the country, a move that betrays any claims of improved religious tolerance. Despite this, Díaz-Canel’s administration insists on misleading the public and the Vatican about the state of religious freedom in Cuba.

This false narrative serves to bolster the Castro regime’s propaganda while distracting from the pressing issues faced by Cuban citizens, including rampant poverty and government oppression. The regime’s rejection of America’s foreign policy demonstrates its unwavering allegiance to authoritarian governance, rather than a genuine commitment to its people.

There is a dire need for the international community to recognize the reality of the situation in Cuba. True religious freedom cannot exist under a regime that surveils and punishes its citizens for their faith. The Pope should approach any potential visit with caution, as previous papal visits have done little to curb the regime’s violent repression, leading to public outcry and persecution of activists who dare to speak truth.

As we witness such blatant manipulation of religious values by a totalitarian regime, it becomes clear that the call for democracy and respect for human dignity in Cuba must resonate, not just among religious leaders, but across global political entities.

The U.S. must remain steadfast in its support for the Cuban people in their struggle for genuine freedoms.

Historically, the apparatus of communism has done nothing but chip away at human rights, stifling individual liberties in favor of control and subjugation. As Conservative values underscore, the dignity of every human life must be protected and upheld—whether that be from oppressive governments or self-serving narratives.

As the world watches, let us stand firmly on the side of truth, faith, and the enduring human spirit that only flourishes in the light of freedom.
