**Integrity at Stake: Texas Takes a Stand on Voter Registration Practices**

In a bold move, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is stepping up to safeguard the integrity of elections in the Lone Star State.

Concerns have been raised regarding recent voter registration initiatives in Bexar and Harris Counties.

These initiatives, which involve mailing voter registration forms to unregistered residents, have been deemed potentially unlawful and risky by Paxton.

According to a press release from his office, the new registration schemes could lead to ineligible voters, including felons and noncitizens, being added to the rolls.

"It is unlawful and reckless for counties to use taxpayer dollars to indiscriminately send voter registration forms with no consideration of the recipients’ eligibility," Paxton stated, emphasizing the importance of maintaining clean voter rolls.

The counties in question have allocated funds to a third-party vendor to facilitate this mass registration effort, a move Paxton argues exceeds their legal authority.

The Texas law clearly outlines that the responsibility for printing and mailing voter registration forms does not lie with county governments.

Paxton’s letters to the commissioners make it apparent he is prepared to take legal action to enforce compliance with state law if necessary.

His warnings echo a broader commitment to uphold election integrity, particularly in light of the current administration’s policies that allow millions of illegal migrants to flood the border.

Earlier this year, Governor Greg Abbott announced that Texas had successfully purged over one million ineligible voters from its rolls since 2021, further underscoring the administration's dedication to a fair electoral process.

More than 6,500 noncitizens and thousands of individuals with felony convictions were removed during this maintenance effort.

As Texas navigates through these turbulent waters of election integrity, the actions taken by Paxton serve as a reminder of the critical role state leaders play in preserving the sanctity of democracy.
