Democrat Turncoat Urges Biden Replacement with Harris

Former Rep. Tim Ryan, a centrist Democrat and former Biden ally, has called on Democrats to replace President Joe Biden with Vice President Kamala Harris on the party's November ticket in order to beat former President Donald Trump.

In a Newsweek opinion column published Monday, Ryan argued that it is time for Democrats to unite around Harris, saying that America is craving a generational change.

Ryan, who lost a senate race to Republican J. D. Vance in 2022, made the case that Harris' position at the top of the ticket could energize suburban voters, younger voters, and voters of color. He said she would carry a "much more" convincing message than Biden, especially around abortion, an issue known to drive voter engagement.

Despite calls from donors, strategists, and newspaper editorial boards to step aside, Biden told supporters at a North Carolina rally Friday that he is committed to staying in the race.

This comes as Harris is reportedly worried that Democrats will replace Biden with a white candidate. According to sources, Harris is concerned that she will not be able to secure the nomination if Biden is replaced by a white candidate.

The news of Ryan's call for Biden to step aside comes as the former president continues to hint at a potential 2024 run. Trump has been critical of Biden's handling of the economy and the border crisis, and has suggested that he may run again in order to "make America great again."

It remains to be seen whether Democrats will heed Ryan's call and replace Biden with Harris. However, the fact that a former Biden ally is now calling for his replacement is a sign of the growing discontent within the Democratic Party.

As the 2024 election approaches, it is clear that the race for the White House will be a closely watched one. With Trump hinting at a potential run and Democrats facing internal divisions, the next few months will be crucial in determining who will be the next president of the United States.
