Biden Campaign Co-Chair Puzzled by Concerns Over President's Mental Health

In a recent interview with CNN, Mitch Landrieu, co-chair for President Joe Biden's campaign, expressed confusion over the ongoing concerns about the President's mental acuity. Despite numerous instances where Biden has appeared to be lost or frozen in place during public appearances, Landrieu remains puzzled by the public's skepticism.

When asked about former President Donald Trump's challenge to Biden to take a cognitive test, Landrieu dismissed the idea, stating, "I think Donald Trump is a joke. When this guy — when his lips are moving, he’s lying." He went on to accuse Trump of having mental acuity problems himself.

Landrieu further defended Biden's mental fitness, stating, "My president is going to show up on time, on task, and he is going to give it to Donald Trump next week. He shows up, he’s doing his job." He cited the administration's achievements, such as the creation of 15.5 million jobs and a strong economy, as evidence of Biden's competence.

However, concerns about Biden's mental health continue to rise, with many voters expressing their belief that he is too old to lead the country for another four years. An ABC News/Ipsos poll from February showed that over 80% of those asked thought Biden's advanced age means he should not serve another term.

Despite these concerns, Landrieu remains adamant that Biden is mentally fit to serve as President. He dismissed videos of Biden's odd moments as being deceptively edited or lacking context, despite many of the videos being live or posted in full.

As the 2024 election approaches, the question of Biden's mental fitness is likely to remain a contentious issue. However, Landrieu's unwavering support for Biden suggests that the President's campaign will continue to push back against these concerns.
