CNN Drops Additional Rules for First 2024 Presidential Debate

CNN has announced new regulations for the upcoming presidential debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. The debate, scheduled for June 27, will run for 90 minutes with two commercial breaks. During these breaks, candidates will not be permitted to communicate with their staff.

Both candidates have agreed to appear at a uniform podium, with their podium positions determined by a coin flip. Microphones will be muted throughout the debate except for the candidate whose turn it is to speak. No props or pre-written notes will be allowed on stage, but candidates will be given a pen, a pad of paper, and a bottle of water.

The absence of a studio audience will be a departure from previous debates, but the moderators will use all tools at their disposal to enforce timing and ensure a civilized discussion.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s participation in the debate is not impossible, though it's also not considered likely at this point. Kennedy has polled at 15 percent in three qualifying polls and is listed on the ballot in six states, potentially earning him 86 Electoral College votes.

Trump has agreed to a new debate format for an upcoming face-off with Biden. The former president prefers to stand during debates, but he has agreed to sit at a table with Biden following a request from the 81-year-old commander-in-chief's campaign.

The Trump and Biden campaigns have arranged two debates, one to be conducted by CNN on June 27 and another by ABC News on September 10. It is uncertain whether the seated format will be employed for both debates.

At the request of the Biden campaign, there will be no live audience at either event. This decision has raised concerns among Republicans and border patrol experts, who say that President Joe Biden's open border policies are politically motivated and an attempt to get more voters for the 2024 election.

Congressman Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., said that the hard left that controls the Democratic Party today is okay with rigging elections. Non-citizens are allowed to vote in Washington, D.C., despite GOP efforts to try to stop it. The Committee on House Administration passed a bill in May that requires proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote nationally in an effort to prevent noncitizens from voting in federal elections.

More than 189,000 immigrants arrived at the southern border just in the month of February, according to the CBP. Vice President of the National Border Council Art Del Cueto said that Biden's recent border executive order is putting more unaccompanied migrant children in danger.

President Joe Biden recently issued an executive order to crack down on illegal immigration, which was met with backlash from Republican lawmakers and even some far-left lawmakers on the other side of the aisle. Biden said that his executive order will "bar migrants who cross our southern border unlawfully from receiving asylum ... unless they seek it after entering through an established lawful process."

One legal pathway includes making an appointment through the CBP One app at a port of entry to make an asylum claim then, Biden said.

Former Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf says that it is a concern that non-citizens are influencing a process in which American citizens practice their right to vote.

"These are not US citizens and yet they're influencing a process that allows for a vote in the United States Congress [and] in this case and the House," he said. "And so I think most people would say that's wrong, and the majority of Americans would say we shouldn't be doing that."

With multiple people coming across the southern border, Wolf expressed his frustrations with the Biden administration for refusing to take responsibility.

"For the last three years, this administration has first denied that there was ever a crisis along the border and then tried to blame everyone but themselves and everyone but their own policies that actually caused this crisis," he said.

This breaking news highlights the ongoing debate surrounding immigration and border security in the United States. The upcoming presidential debate between Biden and Trump will provide an opportunity for both candidates to address these issues and present their plans for the future.
