Anti-Israeli Protesters Expose NYC Subway Gun Law Flaws

Anti-Israeli protesters on NYC subway highlight issues with city's gun laws.

Earlier this week, masked anti-Israeli protesters took over a New York City subway car and demanded to know if there were any "Zionists" on the train.

The protesters, who had rallied in Union Square Park in Manhattan and held up a banner that read "Long live October 7," then warned any Zionists on the train that "this is your chance to get out."

The incident has highlighted the issues with New York City's gun laws, which prohibit lawful carry on the subway.

Imagine being a Jewish person sitting on that subway car, seeing the antisemitic rhetoric being bandied about by these protesters, and being told to identify yourself as a zionist for thinking that Israel has a right to exist.

It's a frightening scenario, and one that could have turned violent.

But New York City's gun control laws made it impossible for anyone on that subway car to lawfully carry a gun for self-defense.

The police are supposedly around to protect citizens, but where were they when this protester decided to try and deny lawfully acting people the right to ride on public transportation?

Fortunately, no one was hurt in this incident. But it's a stark reminder of the importance of the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms for self-defense.

As the Supreme Court ruled in the Bruen decision, states and cities can designate certain places as "sensitive" and prohibit guns there. But they should be careful not to go too far and infringe on the rights of law-abiding citizens.

In this case, the subway is not a "sensitive" place, and lawful carry should be allowed.

It's time for New York City to reconsider its gun control laws and allow law-abiding citizens to carry guns for self-defense.

After all, as the saying goes, "the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."
