Freshman Democratic Senator Kamala Harris has announced that she will decide on whether to run for President in 2020 during Christmas.
Sen. Kamala Harris, one of a handful of closely-watched presidential contenders from the ranks of the Senate, says she'll decide over Christmas whether to seek the White House.
But even with the decision before her, Harris, who has already made a name for herself going after witnesses from her perch on the Judiciary Committee, says the race will be bloody.
'Let’s be honest. It’s going to be ugly,' she told MSNBC at a "Known Your Value' event in San Francisco, near her home town of Oakland.
'When you break things, it is painful," she continued. "And you get cut. And you bleed,' the Hill reported.
Harris is already being closely watched as a potential candidate, having made the requisite trip to Iowa and established something of a national profile – though a poll from a few months ago shows a quarter of her homestate's voters to know or have an opinion of her.
“It will ultimately be a family decision,' she said of a potential presidential run. 'And over the holiday, I will make that decision with my family,' she told host Mike Brzezinski.
Helping make her decision easier may be some machinations in her home state, where Gov. Jerry Brown signed into effect a change to move the primary to March 3, which could give her a boost.
