Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday accused President Trump of having “something to hide” and demand the newly appointed acting AG Matthew G. Whitaker to recuse himself from the Mueller investigation.
“Clearly, the President has something to hide,” Schumer tweeted, responding to President Trump letting go Jeff Sessions.
“Given his previous comments advocating defunding and imposing limitations on the Mueller investigation, Mr. Whitaker should recuse himself from its oversight for the duration of his time as acting attorney general,” Schumer added.
The announcement of removing Jeff Sessions as AG is no surprise. Both Sessions and Trump have not had the best relationship since Sessions recused himself from the “Russian investigation.”
