Democratic Law Maker Elijah Cummings sided against the Red Hen restaurant in virginia for their refusal to serve White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
As reported by Democratic Rep. Elijah Cummings said Sunday the Virginia restaurant owner who asked White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave this weekend should have served her instead.
"I think, as far as the restaurant incident, I think the restaurant owner should have served her," said Cummings, the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee. "I really do. But, this tone is horrible. But again, I think President [Donald] Trump has created this."
On Saturday, Sanders said she was told on Friday night by the owner of The Red Hen, a restaurant in Lexington, Va., "to leave because I work for @POTUS and I politely left."
"Her actions say far more about her than about me," Sanders tweeted. "I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so."
Stephanie Wilkinson, who is co-owner of the restaurant, explained to The Washington Post on Saturday that she believed Sanders worked for an “inhumane and unethical” administration.
“I’m not a huge fan of confrontation,” Wilkinson told the Post. “I have a business, and I want the business to thrive. This feels like the moment in our democracy when people have to make uncomfortable actions and decisions to uphold their morals.”
During his appearance Sunday on CBS' "Face The Nation," Cummings placed the blame on the president when he was asked about "the tone or lack of civility right now."
Cummings statement. Although he sided with Sarah Sanders, he couldn’t just leave it at “the restaurant should have served her”. He had to get a dig in on President Trump.
