Melania Trump has made it clear where she stands on children being separated from their parents at the border.
Melania took a trip to the southernborder today to visit with the children who have been taken into DHS custody as a result of their parents being arrested. Instead of focusing on the positivity she was doing, the media instead to focus on a particular brand of jacket she was wearing as she boarded the airplane.
As reported by washingtonexaminer.com
A spokeswoman for Melania Trump fired back at the media for its coverage Thursday of the first lady’s jacket that read “I really don’t care, do u?”
Trump wore the jacket while boarding a plane to Texas to visit children being held in detention centers after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally.
Trump’s communications director, Stephanie Grisham, said the media should focus more on the first lady’s actions to help children instead of reporting on possible hidden meanings behind her wardrobe choices.
“Today’s visit w the children in Texas impacted [Trump] greatly. If media would spend their time & energy on her actions & efforts to help kids - rather than speculate & focus on her wardrobe - we could get so much accomplished on behalf of children,” Grisham tweeted.
The acting first lady was the first out of a group of other first ladies to publicly condemn the the tragic repercussions of the legal policy that has been around since 1997. Her own husband, Donald Trump, took the senseless blame from the Democrats and others, even though it was not his doing in the first place. To think that Melania, an immigrant herself, would wear a jacket with the intent of delivering some sort of secret message that she doesn't care about the children, knowing that she is going to be surrounded by the media and cameras, is absolutely ridiculous, and the exact definition of fake news. Media outlets that reported on it should be ashamed.
