Looks like things are about to heat up. On Saturday, President Trump tweeted on the possibility that Obama's FBI spied on his campaign.
"If the FBI or DOJ was infiltrating a campaign for the benefit of another campaign, that is a really big deal," he tweeted.
Then this morning, President Trump doubled up and demanded an immediate investigation into the spy ring.
"I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow, that the Department of Justice look into whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes - and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama Administration!" he tweeted.
This tweeted is important because it could genuinely produce a crisis with the Justice Department and the FBI as he prepares to escalate an already extraordinary clash between a president and his Justice Department.
According to reports, Deputy Atty. Gen. Rod Rosenstein has heard the President and is now expanding the investigation. “If anyone did infiltrate or surveil participants in a presidential campaign for inappropriate purposes, we need to know about it and take appropriate action," says Rosenstein, who supervises Robert Mueller.
Rep. Nunes describes the use of an informant as running "a spy ring or an informant ring" on the Trump campaign. Who was the ringmaster? Hillary Clinton?
According to one source, the spying went on even after Trump was elected President.
