North Korea is reportedly threatening to cancel the summit between President Trump and Kim Jong Un.
North Korea has already cancelled talks with South Korea this week due to ongoing military drills being carried out in the area.
As reported by washingtonexaminer.com
North Korea threatened to call off next month’s historic summit with President Trump and has canceled discussions with South Korea scheduled to take place Wednesday, according to South Korea’s Yonhap News Service.
Yonhap reported that North Korea canceled the talks with South Korea because of ongoing military drills between the U.S. and South Korean militaries. Officials from the two Koreas were expected to continue discussions following a meeting between South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un last month.
Citing North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency, Yonhap reported that the North believed the drills were in preparation for an invasion.
One would assume there is no invasion being planned, and that North Korea is overreacting. Either way this could be a huge setback in what people have been celebrating as huge strides forward in peaceful negotiations with North Korea and the United States. South Korea showed huge promise with their recent talks with North Korea. Hopefully this will be worked out, and soon.
