BREAKING: They Are Shutting Down 42 Schools!

The teacher strike is heating up in Arizona.

Teachers and their union were unhappy with their 20 percent raise and are planning a district wide walk out closing down 42 schools.

All 42 schools in the Peoria Unified School District will be closed on Thursday and Friday due to the teacher walk-out.

According to Danielle Airey, a spokesperson for the school district, a majority of Peoria Unified certified teachers do not plan to report to work on April 26 and April 27 because of the statewide teacher walk-out.

Gov. Doug Ducey has offered a proposal that gives Arizona teachers a 20 percent raise by 202, however, many teachers say the plan fails to address funding for classrooms and support staff.

What do think folks? Are the teachers getting too greedy?

It's a "movement". Naa. It's more like in a red state, the union and teachers want a Democrat governor who is up for election this November, and to boot out the current Republican Governor. AZ schools have been underpaid and not run correctly for over 20 years. So this is supposed to be "fixed" by striking and making higher demands. The parents are furious but if they take to FB and voice their frustrations, they are "hit" by pro protest trolls and shamed. Not a two way street. Classified workers lose pay but teachers are paid for days off. Employees and students are being told to wear "red for ed". Sad when they used to be proud to wear their own school colors and logos. They plan to protest up until November 2018 elections.
