Chelsea Manning, the former Army private convicted of sharing government documents with Wikileaks, has filed to run for the U.S. Senate in Maryland.
Manning, 30, filed to run as a Democrat, according to federal election filings first reported by The Washington Post Saturday.
The whistleblower was released from prison in May 2017 after serving seven years. Her sentence was commuted by President Barack Obama.

Chelsea Manning disrespected police officers everywhere.
On Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, Manning showed her true colors by tweeting out "F--- the police!"

foxnews.com reports: As many people across the country recognized Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Tuesday, convicted spy Chelsea Manning took to Twitter to blast the men and women in blue.
“F--- the police,” Manning tweeted out on Tuesday, followed by “#DisarmThePolice#WeGotThis.”
Manning doubled down on her position sending out a series of tweets with seemingly unsourced stats.
Manning, who was known as Bradley Manning before transitioning in prison after her arrest in 2010, was convicted in 2013 of 20 counts, including Espionage Act violations, theft and computer fraud.

Chelsea Manning has apparently been banned from Canada!
washingtonexaminer.com reports: Chelsea Manning said Monday she cannot visit Canada because of her criminal history.
"so, i guess canada has permanently banned me ? @CitImmCanada denied entry b/c of convictions similar to 'treason' offense," Manning tweeted, with a copy of a letter allegedly from a Canadian official.

IJR Reported: Chelsea Manning, who pleaded guilty to multiple counts of espionage and served seven years in prison before President Barack Obama commuted her 35-year sentence, made national headlines Thursday by being offered a visiting fellow position at Harvard University.
The invitation proved to be extremely controversial, prompting former CIA director and nonresident senior fellow Mike Morell to issue a scathing resignation letter.
“Ms. Manning was found guilty of 17 serious crimes, including six counts of espionage, for leaking hundreds of thousands of classified documents to Wikileaks, an entity that CIA Director Mike Pompeo says operates like an adversarial foreign intelligence service,” Morell wrote. “Senior leaders in the military have stated publicly that the leaks by Ms. Manning put the lives of US soldiers at risk."
