Nearly two months after the Jan. 6 capitol riot, the Senate has chosen a new sergeant at arms, the Associated Press reported.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced Wednesday that retired Lt. General Karen Gibson will be appointed to lead the Office of the Sergeant at Arms, according to the Associated Press. The role is tasked with providing security for the Senate chamber’s security and other administrative tasks to ensure Senators’ security, the Associated Press report noted.
