House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., reportedly will travel to Florida this week to meet with former President Donald Trump.
The meeting, first reported by Punchbowl News, was confirmed by a source to The Hill.
The leader's office had not responded to a request for comment about the report.
McCarthy will head to Palm Beach, Fla., at a time when he's trying to manage simmering tensions within the House GOP caucus amid the fallout from the Jan. 6 U. S. Capitol riot, and Trump's impeachment for inciting the mob that stormed the building.
The House GOP leader was extremely loyal to the former president during Trump's four years in office. However, he apparently upset the president with words and actions following the Capitol riot.
