Frank LaRose certifies Ohio’s 2020 election results, awarding state’s 18 Electoral College votes to Donald Trump

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose certified the results of the state’s 2020 Presidential General Election on Friday, awarding Ohio’s 18 Electoral College votes to Donald Trump.

Trump beat President-elect Joe Biden by eight points in Ohio, according to LaRose. Trump received a little over 53% of the state’s votes, while Biden received a little over 45%.

The Secretary of State’s office collected data from the official canvass conducted and submitted by Ohio’s 88 county Boards of Elections.

LaRose also conducted a precinct-by-precinct review of the data, before certifying.

The data includes a breakdown by county and precinct of the races for President, U. S. Representatives to Congress, General Assembly, members of State Board of Education, the Ohio Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals.

In a record high number, almost six million ballots were cast statewide, beating the state’s 2008 record. A total of 74% of registered voters cast a ballot. All 88 counties had a higher voter turnout than in 2016.
