Washington governor mistakenly gifts maggot-infested apples to communities impacted by wildfires

A Washington State Senator is warning of stiff penalties for Governor Jay Inslee after he accidentally gifted maggot-infested apples to Eastern Washington communities impacted by widespread wildfires.
State Senator Judy Warnick said Inslee stopped in Malden and offered a box of apples picked from his own yard.
Warnick, former chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee, said Inslee's apples were infested with an apple maggots
“I’m surprised and frankly disappointed,” Warnick said. "It was a nice gesture, but not well thought through. As the state’s executive, he should have followed the law to keep our state’s agriculture safe, instead of putting it at risk. I think that the stiffest penalties are in order.”... (Read more)
