Excerpts from article:

...The disgraced Mexican security chief accused of accepting millions in bribes from the Sinaloa Cartel is under "special security measures" in Brooklyn federal jail - making it difficult for his defense team to meet with him, his attorney said Tuesday.

...Genaro Garcia Luna, the former Secretary of Public Security in Mexico, is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Sunset Park on charges that he turned a blind eye toward drug overlord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman in exchange for the cash, while serving in public office from 2006-12.

..."There are special security measures put in place," said his attorney Cesar DeCastro on Tuesday.

...Federal Judge Brian Cogan agreed there shouldn't be extra security for Garcia Luna based solely on his ties to the Mexican drug ring.

...Since his arrest on Dec. 10 in Texas, Garcia Luna has mostly been held in solitary confinement until just over a week ago, according to his lawyer.
